2008: Dead Set – Reality Bites

Big Brother with zombies. A setting for a zombie ficton that is as nailing as it is original. The mini-series offers a good mix of horror, seriousness and black humour. This British series combines reality TV satire with zombie horror. During a fictional season of “Big Brother”, a zombie apocalypse breaks out and the contestants and the production team must fight for their survival. The series is known for its dark comedy and sharp social criticism.

Realisation: Big Brother container quarantine offers some protection, but ultimately only a small time advantage. Key moment: The first time Kac*** is in company.

Rule of survival: Be tough and consistent, but not too anti-social. But as is so often the case: if everything is zombie land, there is (almost) never a real escape – at best a time delay.
